Hey all! Long time no journal! This one won't be that long, so bear with it.

As you've probably noticed, I've been doing more vector work recently, mainly backgrounds. I think I've been doing a nice job, though the amount of feedback I get varies, as is the nature of posting infrequently, and not being particularly popular. However, it makes it a bit hard to tell if I'm making good things or not, so I want to make some things specifically for people and see how well I do. In other words, I'm taking requests for backgrounds, icons, and similar things, as well as comics or standard "art", if you like a gamble.

When giving me your request, please include the following details:
Medium - Vector, Fractal, Pencil/Pen Drawing*
Type - Icon, Signature, Background, Misc. Design Element (e.g. border), Comic*, Art*
Resolution - For any design elements, I will need to know what resolution you want them at. I will provide at least two versions: One at this resolution, and one at double resolution. This isn't necessary for comics or art.
Description - Tell me what you want. Be detailed in the feel of the image, but try not to give too many unnecessary visual details.
Why - A short explanation of why you want it/where you plan to use it would be nice, but not necessary**.

This is cost-free. You don't have to pay me. What I do require, though, is feedback as to how well I did in both the quality of the image, and how well it portrays what you requested. That's the whole point of this exercise, and if you don't give me feedback, I won't give you high-res versions of anything (¬_¬)

I look forward to making stuff for you guys, however many of you there are. If you know someone who is looking for someone to make something, link them here! No, they don't have to follow me. They don't even have to look at my gallery (though that's recommended if you want to know how your request will turn out). They just have to ask.

That's all for today. It's been good talking again, I'll see you all next time
~Chief-Slaya

* be prepared for terrible quality. Doubly so if you pick a combination of these.
** explanation of your intent is necessary if you ask for a misc. design element. I'm unlikely to refuse your request based on your answer, but I will not create any design elements without knowing where they're going.

How to Resume!

5 min read
So I have just finished my resume, and I believe it to be the best thing in the world! Not quite, but I think I did a good job, though I was only able to complete it with the advice I gained from a very helpful GAME employee with little else to do and a hope I would be happy enough to then buy something. So, here are my tips and stuff!

The Format

Setting your Resume out appropriately is probably one of the most confusing parts of the whole ordeal. What do you include? Where do you put it? What categories should you separate everything into? That's what I'm going to tell you.

Contact Details

Start off by giving your contact details, including your Phone number, and alternate contact number, your email address, and sometimes your postal address, but not usually. It's a good idea to ask an employee what details you should include here, just to be safe, but with those, you should be covered.
Protip: If your email address is a little unprofessional, like "wierd_al_ex@hotmail.com" (guess who >.>), then you might want to either set up another email address and forward its mail, or you may want to set up an alias email address, as I did! I don't know if this is doable with all email providers, but you can do it with Hotmail.

Availability

Outline what days you can work, the hours on those days, and any special issues such as being unable to work public holidays. If you're not sure about whether or not you want to/can work public holidays, don't mention them. If there are some specific days you can't work, you can always tell them 2 weeks ahead of time.

Previous Experience

List the jobs and Work Experience/Placement you have had, in order of most recent. Include the name of the business, the area it operates in/you were employed, your position/duties in the business, and a contact number for the business. This will give employers a good idea of what you have already learnt, and will allow them to check with your employers to verify your information and find out how you perform.

Education

List your educational qualifications in order of most recent, including where you studied and when you earned the qualification. This includes the highest level of schooling, and you may want to include the (relevant) subjects you took. Don't worry about giving figures such as an ATAR or anything, its a job, not a University.

Interests/Hobbies

This is the part where you explain to them what kind of person you are. Try to include only things that are important and specific, so you don't just outright include everything about you. For example, telling them you like Video Gaming and have played several platforms is good, while telling them you enjoy music and why is too generalized.

Referees/References

Its a good idea to get a couple of people to vouch for your brilliance and hard work, so think of 2 or 3 people with authority that will give a good impression of you to employers. DO NOT use family members as referees, unless they employed you or something similar. Teachers, previous employers, and friends in high places are good options, though don't get them to call your friend Matt who works at the cannery unless he owns the cannery, or he can explain why the cannery is going to give you a bad rap (in a dignified, intelligent manner, too).
Protip: Make sure you ask your referees before you include them, so that they don't get mad about you giving away their personal details, and so they're not caught off-guard when the employers call them. If they get an unexpected call from the employer and they're not prepared for it, the employer will know you haven't prepared well.

The Style

Try to keep the styling appropriate for the job you're applying for, and easy to read and navigate. If, for example, you were applying for a graphic design position, you would be better off presenting your resume in a visually appealing way, with custom borders, alignments, etc. On the other hand, applying for a secretarial job would best be done with a simple, clear Microsoft Word document with uniform titles, and little or no colour. If you're not sure what's appropriate, the safest option is simplicity: No colour, simple titles, spacing that clearly separates paragraphs, and Arial, Calibri, Cambria, or some other boring font THAT ISN'T TIMES NEW ROMAN OR COMIC SANS. (A comprehensive list of appropriate fonts will be provided at the end, as well as a list of "Never use" fonts. It's important, people!)

The Length

You may think that your resume will need to be around 4-5 pages long, but you would be mistaken. Unless the majority of those pages is filled with a list of your qualifications, and your exploits whilst saving the world, you will want your resume to turn out to be 2, maybe 3 pages long, max. The reason for this? Print out 25 copies of it, put them in a pile and tell me how motivated you are to read them. Now print out the 5-page version. What would you do with it? You'd burn it to relieve the stress, that's what. You want the employer to not hate you on principle, so keep it concise.

That should cover most issues people will have with writing a resume. For reference, I will post any sections that are requested as examples, albeit with certain information censored for privacy.

List of fonts:

The "DO" List:
Cambria
Calibri
Arial
Baskerville Old Face (Headings)
Bell MT (Headings)
Book Antiqua
Bookman Old Style
Californian FB
Candara
Century Gothic (Headings)
Constantia
Corbel
Ebrima
Estrangelo Edessa
I am way too bored now to do any more of this list. Goodbye!

So yesterday I had a very interesting day! I had to help my mum move stuff from one house to another (long story) and it just so happened that that opened up some opportunities, and resulted, basically, in me meeting up with :iconamp-blade: for the day! The day started off well enough. Sat down at the train station next to who I was pretty sure was her, and I was correct! So we started by standing up, and had no clue what to do then. We went off to Subway and got ourselves some lunch, and sat there talking about Skyrim and how CoD sucks and programming and modelling and then about :iconbladewolf73:, :iconepicgeared: and :iconorwrath: and how they're all inferior to me! But seriously we were talking about how people were irl and stuff.

After a while we decided we should actually go do something, so we stood up, and had no clue what to do then. We decided to go on over to my car and drive in that direction. Decided we were going to go kidnap :iconstarayo: (who looks nothing like his picture!) and stayed at his place for a bit, talking about MAID and other dungeon crawlers, and games, and outside, etc. Eventually we got him to come outside and we all hopped in my car, and had no clue what to do. So we drove in that direction.

We headed off to Miranda since that was the only place we could think of, so we went in, I parked like a pro, and we all entered the shopping centre (not the matrix, sorry). First thing that happened was Starayo spotted the juice bar and got some carrot juice. Lo and behold, it tasted like carrots! All the time! It was incredible, apparently, just how it tasted like carrots. So we went along a bit further, ended up at a cafe and Amp-Blade had some tea. When we were done there Starayo insisted on going to Aldi, and I agreed, so we all skipped along to the wonderful wizard of German food. We ended up getting apple juice, chips and more chips, and some orange thins. It was a good meal, to say the least. Then, we stood up, and had no idea what to do.

So we walked around a little bit but ended up just going back to Starayo's house and talking more about games and stuff, and then me and Amp-Blade went back to her place ;D It was cool though, her house is really big o.0 and her mum was apparently unusually nice at the time, though once she learned my name was Chief online, she was calling me Chief all night, which was fine by me XD I met Troncos, who wasn't very friendly, as was expected. Oh well, maybe some day that bird will like me. So we went into Amp-Blade's room and wow, she has alot of dragons. And Vincent Valentine. Both are pretty cool! She taught me how to use the basics of Blender, and we were gonna play a game of LoL except I needed to pick my sister up.

And thus ended a wonderful day of meeting people irl and having fun doing not much! Next time I think the trip will involve alot less going around and alot more staying inside someone's place XD

Also,I had to shave my beard for work today :C The deed is done, and now I have to go to work. I wish you all the best of luck and the longest beards. Beards for everyone!

That's all for tonight, tune in next week for more of the exciting adventures of... Chief-Slaya!

Now that HSC is over, all I have to do is celebrate its end with a LAN party and I will have a great deal of free time. Because of this I will dedicate myself to the Tales of Magrias, but there may be some interruptions on the road ahead...

If my living arrangements weren't temporary and uncertain before, they will be now. I'll be moving around the place, and sometimes may not know where the place I'm going to is, so there'll be a few disruptions. Because of this, I'll be trying to find a sharehouse and a full-time job so I can follow a stable schedule, have a reliable base of operations, set up the Internet with a limit that can sustain me, and get everything on my to-do list done. So naturally, there's gonna be some rough times ahead in terms of uploading, but I'll do my best to make things. Good news is I've paid off my debts, so I'll be able to do things like buy a camera or get games from Steam (Chief_Slaya add me).

The good thing about the series is that I know where it ends and a few of the adventures have been written for me by fate and my fellow game-players. I will continue this series to the end, and possibly to the afterlife if interest permits. I'll also try to improve my drawing skills so that I can depict how I picture Magrias, and so I can have a base for his cosplay. Yes, I know he's not from an anime or game, and that when I turn up at Animania people will have no clue who I am, but half the fun of being Magrias is introducing yourself. "I am MAGRIAS FENRELIANIUS!" *charges off into the distance*

I have this idea for a site similar to DeviantART, but not in competition with it. I won't reveal my ideas lest they are good and come to fruition, but rest assured most of you won't care about it, and of those who do care, almost none of you will upload to it, just browse.

Well, I have a LAN party to prepare for. Wish me good luck and high FPS!

To start off, I have to say that I am finally 18! I can buy alcohol, spray paint, knives and porn,  I can gamble, and I can appear naked in videos! Not a smart combination of rights to give most 18 year olds... But fear not! I'm far too moral and frugal to do any of that. Except the knives and spray paint. Knives are cool and spray paint is necessary for cosplay. So yeah! I'm now an adult by technicality and not necessarily mentality!

------------------------

Second noteworthy thing is that I went to Animania yesterday! And I have to inform you all that it is the BEST time I have EVER HAD in the years I have been alive, and I am not exaggerating. The highlight came in three sections. I was walking around looking at the cosplayers, when I suddenly dropped EVERYTHING and started almost screaming and hyperventilating (Bladewolf73 and epicgeared can vouch for that).

Fumbling for my phone and making sure it worked, my friends were coordinated enough to carry my stuff and keep track of the source of my excitement. I set the phone up to take pictures, gave it to Bladewolf73 and walked up to her.

Tapping her on the shoulder, I said to her (and this is a direct quote): "Please, please, PLEASE, can I hug you?", and in the kindest gesture I have ever seen, she said yes, and gave me the cutest and most enjoyable hug I've ever had, posing for the camera. And that is the story of how I had my very first hug from a Mizore cosplayer! But this was in three parts right?

Yes! Because before long I found A SECOND MIZORE COSPLAYER! And yet again (and in a less begging manner), I asked for a hug. Second Mizore hug with photo evidence!

Then, when we were planning on leaving, I took one last look around at the stalls to see what merch I could find, when lo and behold, I saw a third Mizore playing Dance Dance Revolution! So for the final time, I hugged a Mizore, and got a picture. That one was awkward though, because I don't think she realised we were taking a picture at first, so she looked the other way. Wasn't her fault, since a hoard of camera-height guys just stormed past the cameraman. She got the idea though, and was more than happy to be in the picture.

So that is the story of how I had the best day of my life! Meanwhile, there were some other pretty cool cosplays too. We saw a squirtle, a hitmonchan, and a Kangaskhan, all in very well done and accurate outfits! As it turned out, the Kangaskhan and Hitmonchan were both girls, and poor old Kangaskhan couldn't use her hands, so in an adorable gesture, her boyfriend fed her :3 There were also a great deal of Pikachus, which were really just people in yellow jumpsuits with a pikachu hood that all seemed to be from the same store.

We saw quite a few links, but one in particular had some pretty nice detail, especially the sword, shield and scabbard. As expected, half of them were girls, one being a purple link. There was also a posse with a Mario, a Luigi, and a very tall Toad.

We saw two pairs of cosplayers dressed as Panty and Stocking (they're characters and not from porn I swear!), one pair in normal form and the other in their angel forms. I also thought I saw a guy dressed as Garterbelt, but I think he just had an afro.

Somewhere along the line these guys dressed in army gear began to appear all over the place, and crowded together somewhere. At first I was rather confused, but I eventually noticed the Umbrella Corp. insignia on their uniforms. Clever. There were also a few people dressed as the guys from Army of Two, ie guys wearing masks and dressed in army gear. Looked good though!

At the start of the convention, Bladewolf73, dressed as Zexion from Organisation XIII, was approached by a guy in a Roxas cosplay, who asked him if he would join the Organisation XIII walk-around he was trying to organise with other cosplayers, to which he replied "Why should I? What could I gain from this?" (apparently in a reference to the game or something), and they had a short but in-character conversation, from what I could tell. Later on, more organisation XIII members appeared, some apparently not representing any member in particular. I wouldn't know.

There was a group that came together, and I have no idea what they were from. They were all dressed as fox-like creatures. As in, they were wearing full-body suits of these things. One of them was a red fox in an "eccentric bachelor" gown sort of thing, and one of them was blue with some rainbow sections. I was so confused and bedazzled that I eventually asked for a photo of the colourful one. I almost jumped when its MOUTH moved realistically! It was so cool!

And now for the horror stories. We saw this really nice pair of cosplayers dressed as Moka and Ruby from Rosario + Vampire. We were impressed until.... We saw their jaws and their throats. Their very MANLY jaws and their adam's apples. Thankfully this happened over a second. *shudder*. There was also this cosplay of a big girl in a purple dress. Turns out it was just a big guy who could... fill in the necessary places. :(

Well aside from that, epicgeared got a print of Horo from Spice and Wolf, and Bladewolf73 got a print of Sora from Kingdom Hearts. Or Roxas, I'm not sure. I, on the other hand, got a set of DragonBall Z Dragonball bouncy balls XD There's seven of them and they have the numbered stars :D pretty awesome imho.

------------------------

But finally, the main point of this journal! I have a wonderful and lackluster announcement!

==I'm now selling prints!==

So yay! I haven't actually sold a print yet, they're just available to buy. Here's the list of available prints, just in case you can't be bothered to check my "Prints" gallery:
"Colour Cataclysm"
"Puddle"
"Jade Pendant"
"Good vs Evil 2"
"Escher's Eldorado Invaded"
"She Sella Sea Shells"
"Frozenova"
"The Taint"
"Ivory Mark"
"Passion"
"Christmas Card 1"
"Christmas Card 2"
"Dark Memories"
"Life Oasis"
"Returning Home"
"Battles and Wars"
"Circle Mind"

Most of them aren't very large, but Circle Mind I re-rendered at 600dpi so it fit every single image size. So if any of you wanted any of my images as a print, you can now get alot of them that way!

So why have I suddenly put up prints? Another advantage of turning 18 is that I can make a paypal account! Which also means I can buy my own Steam games! And so, I begin a new era of nerdery! Wish me luck!

So what little sliver of advice do I have for you all at the end of this journal? My advice is that if you want to make a nice $50 then make me a high-resolution, high-quality, gorgeous coloured drawing of Mizore Shirayuki stretching her arms out as if gesturing for a hug. Just be prepared to wait at least 2 months before I will be able to afford it. As in don't bother making it for another month at least, but I'd suggest drawing practice sketches, maybe showing them to me so I can choose who to commission. Because I will commission this, just not soon.

And to quote a guy on instructables: "There are few scenes scarier than seeing a child bleeding profusely from the face. Especially if that child is rapidly losing blood in YOUR home."
Stay safe children!
